World-Famous Fatima Statue on Tour for Peace Across America

The world-famous International Pilgrim Virgin Statue of Fatima, traveling worldwide since 1947, is on an historic two-year tour of America to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the apparitions at Fatima, visiting more than 100 dioceses in 50 states from March 2016 to December 2017. The Archdiocese of St. Paul & Minneapolis is hosting the Tour October 8 – 13, 2016.

Catholics in the Archdiocese are preparing for the tour by participating in a 33-day Marian consecration program beginning September 10, and making or renewing their consecration to the Immaculate Heart on October 13, the anniversary of the Miracle of the Sun at Fatima. Archbishop Bernard Hebda will lead the consecration prayer at the Basilica of St. Mary that evening at 7PM.

Six host parishes are planning a special day to commemorate the Fatima celebrations, which include processions, Mass, Rosary, confessions, talks on Fatima, schoolchildren visits, and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament.

Our Lady Set Forth from Fatima to Claim Her Dominion through the Pilgrim Virgin Statue

The goal of the Fatima Centennial U.S. Tour for Peace is to allow Our Lady of Fatima to claim her dominion over America through her Immaculate Heart, and to bring the urgent Message of Fatima—the Peace Plan from Heaven—to a world in need. It also encourages devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, which was the mission given to Lucia dos Santos, the oldest seer at Fatima, by Our Lady and Our Lord. In the July 13, 1917 apparition, God revealed His plan to save the souls of poor sinners through devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Our Lord relayed to Sister Lucia in 1936 that He wished to establish devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary throughout the Church next to His Sacred Heart, and that He had placed the peace of the world in her Immaculate Heart.

Patrick and statue2“In 1946, I crowned Our Lady of Fatima as Queen of the World and the following year, through the Pilgrim Virgin, she set forth as though to claim her dominion, and the favors she performs along the way are such that we can hardly believe what we are seeing with our eyes.” (Pope Pius XII, 1951 radio address at Fatima)

The International Pilgrim Virgin Statue of Fatima was sculpted in 1947 by famous sculptor José Thedim, upon the precise instructions of Sister Lucia, the seer of Fatima. On October 13, 1947, the statue was blessed by the Bishop of Fatima and commissioned to serve as the Pilgrim Virgin that would carry the blessings of Fatima throughout the world. The Bishop prayed that Mary herself accompany the statue wherever it goes. Pope Pius XII blessed the Statue in 1952 and imparted a special blessing on the work of the Fatima Pilgrim Virgin tours.

Many graces and favors, including cures, and countless conversions have been associated with the precious image. The Statue has traveled around the globe many times, visiting more than 100 countries, including Russia and China.
